University of Nicosia

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) is the largest university in Southern Europe that teaches primarily in English, with more than 14,000 students from over 100 countries coming together in an innovative and transformative learning space. Located in Nicosia, the country’s capital, and with a presence in 18 other cities worldwide, we are driven by our pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, innovation, research, technology, and a continually evolving academic environment. We empower our students and instil in them the confidence to make an impact in the world.

UNIC has been named among the top 801-1000 universities in the world, according to the latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. The THE World University Rankings (WUR) are possibly the best-known university rankings in the world. The expanded WUR 2021 edition includes over 1,500 ranked research-intensive universities, out of 25,000 universities globally, that met the THE eligibility criteria and applied for assessment.

This latest distinction comes in the wake of the University’s 5-Star Institutional Rating by the QS Intelligence Unit in its 2020 audit, along with only 50 other universities globally. It also expands upon UNIC’s most recent ranking achievements in both the QS World University Rankings (number 106 in Emerging Europe and Central Asia Region) and the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (number 32 in the world in the core area of Quality Education). The latter are the first to measure the success of universities in delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
