Last Sunday, in collaboration with the Pantheo Eye Center, the annual Mobile Eye Clinic expedition took place at Arsos village in the district of Limassol.

Upon our arrival in Arsos we were greeted by the locals with great enthusiasm.   We set-up at the Community Centre and started receiving patients.  We were responsible for taking patient history and for performing visual acuity and pupil reflex tests.

We also had the opportunity to observe, assist and learn from Drs Theodoros Potamitis, Katia Papastavrou, Antigoni Koukkouli and Aristos Kafkalias, who performed slit lamp examination and fundoscopy.  We saw pathologies ranging from cataract to glaucoma,  and from strabismus to diabetic retinopathy.

After examining approximately 60 patients we had lunch at a scenic small restaurant at the center of Arsos and then headed back after a day full of learning experiences and new encounters with the warm people of a beautiful rural village!

Leader of the expedition: Dr Chloe Antoniou, Αssistant Professor of Biochemistry
