The Senate and the Council of the University of Nicosia have unanimously endorsed the proposal of the Medical School to award Professor Kopelman, past SGUL Principal, an honorary doctorate at the upcoming graduation ceremony on May 6, 2016.

Professor Peter Kopelman, who was honoured by the Medical School at an event in Nicosia on 15 October, was instrumental in the creation of the Medical School, whose first offering was the SGUL graduate-entry 4-Year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.  During his tenure, the Medical School and SGUL also signed a long-term extension of their partnership agreement and expanded this relationship by offering a Postgraduate Diploma and Master in Family Medicine as concurrent awards from both institutions. In addition, Prof Kopelman participated at the graduation of the MBBS-4 programme’s first cohort of medical students in Cyprus.
