career officeThe Careers Office launched two new series of careers presentations to address the need of the students in supporting both their career specialisation as well as offering practical information to support career choices.

The first Specialty Specific Careers Presentation in April was “A Career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology” presented by the eminent Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, who engaged the students with a variety of career options under the specialty of OBGYN.    A month later in May, DrMichael Okocha (our alumnus) presented “Being an F1”, providing his perspective on starting a career in the UK and what to expect as a Junior Doctor working in the NHS, as well as offering some very good tips.  This was the first in the series of Practical Information for Supporting Students Career and can be found on Moodle under the careers section.

Both speakers were introduced by Professor Evagoras Nicolaides, Professor for Postgraduate Medicine and Academic Lead for Careers, who has been instrumental in putting together the monthly programme of careers talks by renowned medical professors and physicians in order to convey what it would be like to work in a specific medical field, including research to assist students in their career choices and pathways.
